A Large Moorcroft Shallow Bowl (Dia 10″) Cluny Design by Sally Tuffin

A vintage Moorcroft shallow bowl in the Cluny design by Sally Tuffin.With a diameter of 259mm (10.19 inch), a height of 29mm (1.14 inch) and a weight of 612g this piece displays as an impressive item.The ‘Eye’ symbol on the base is the ‘year cypher’ for 1994 showing this as the year of production.Sally Tuffin was already a recognised designer when she joined Moorcroft in 1986 and took over full responsibility for design following the retirement of Walter Moorcroft in 1987. She was in fact only the third designer, after William and Walter Moorcroft, since the company began.Sally Tuffin designs are now very collectable.It is understood the Cluny design was inspired by medieval tapestry and was one of the designs from 1992 which were based on landscape themes.The bowl has been closely inspected and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The age related crazing typical of vintage Moorcroft is mainly on the base with only a minimal amount on the upper surface.A very attractive vintage item which of course given its size may well make it suitable for display as a stand alone specimen piece, perhaps in an entrance hall or reception room, as well as been part of a collection.This shallow bowl in the Cluny design is available by ordering online only however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please visit Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor to view a selection of Moorcroft pottery from early vintage pieces to more modern items.Please Note: This item is offered for sale for purposes of display, collecting etc and may not be suitable for use with foodstuff.
