Derale 13031 5/16″ Cooler line to 3/8″ NPT Hose Barb Universal Transmission Line Fitting, Brass

This is a good quality, solid brass fitting which assembled just as it was supposed to. I bought mine to connect the existing steel 5/16″ transmission cooling lines to 3/8″ flexible hose when installing a replacement, stand-alone transmission cooler in front of the radiator/condenser. This is not a common size combination, so it was helpful to find it all together here. If you happen to have a well-stocked local hardware store, you should be able to gather all 4 relevant pieces to this kit individually for a substantial savings.TIP 1: use pipe sealant or teflon tape on the portion with NPT threads (where the back of the barb fitting screws onto the compression fitting) but DO NOT use sealant or tape on the compression side of the fitting. I read online and saw in youtube videos MANY cautions about not using teflon tape on compression fittings, but they are talking ONLY about the compression fitting side of this product.TIP 2: use good quality wrenches when installing these. This is brass and brass is soft; if you use ill-fitting tools on it you WILL damage it. Use good flare wrenches (and I seem to recall they were standard, not metric!)
